Fall is upon us, and there’s nothing better than cozying up in the cooling temperatures with a great podcast. Grab your favorite hot beverage, a warm blanket, and continue your quality journey with one of these fantastic testing podcasts!
Testing Peers Podcast
Join Chris (Provar’s Product Quality Strategy Manager!), David, Simon, and Russell as they begin each episode with random questions, lively banter, and – if you’re really lucky – a good, old-fashioned play on words. Based in the UK, these testers discuss the latest topics in testing and quality and host guest speakers. As timely as it is relevant, Episode 65 will get you thinking about “switching off,” as the gentlemen discuss ways to improve work-life balance. If you’re looking for something more directly related to testing, check out Episode 64 to learn about test cases and perhaps get an answer to the question, “Are test cases valuable and are they still important?”
The Guilty Tester
Dave Duke, software tester from England, asks: “Do you ever feel guilty for not meeting the standards set by others in the software testing community?” If so, Dave’s podcast is the place for you. On a March 2022 episode, Dave explores what it means to work in software development and to often feel left behind when it comes to the latest books in testing. In this episode, the host delves into Lisa Crispin and Janet Gregory’s book, Agile Testing: A Practical Guide for Testers and Agile Teams. Dave discusses the book at a high level, sharing his top four takeaways from the reading, one being the Tester’s Bill of Rights. This episode is a great place to start if you haven’t already read this book, are new to testing, or are just curious about what Dave wished he knew at the start of his career.
Testers’ Island Discs
Tester Neil Studd takes a fresh approach to interviewing with his podcast, Testers’ Island Discs. He hosts guest speakers, and while discussing all things testing, he asks his guests what five songs they would bring to the “Testers’ Desert Island.” This leads to lively discussion about the music, his guests’ backgrounds and interests, and of course – testing. Check out Episode 53, when Neil chats with junior tester Kelly Kenyon about recruitment into the world of software development, and seeks to answer how we can encourage newcomers into the world of testing.
Quality Bits
While Quality Bits is a newcomer to the podcast universe, it is one worth a mention. Quality expert Lina Zubyte aims to bring diversity, open-mindedness, and transparency to her field. Check out episode “Building the Right Product with Nadine Oldorf” and learn what it takes to build the correct product for your customers. The two female testing experts discuss everything from book recommendations to mentorships. Lina also authors quick reads on her favorite topics: testing, quality, and inclusion. Check them out here.
